A Day at Mall of America

We had a great day at the mall with Papa and Mimi. The kids even got to meet Ming Ming from the Wonder Pets. Papa was so excited to go on rides. He had never been on them before. He didn't know what he was missing!

Still getting the hang of the bumper cars.

The big rigs weren't quite the same as Papa's. Joey and Drew were in the last truck. Papa and Dylan in the front. They had fun "chasing" each other around the circle.
The theme for toddler Tuesday was "Dora". It was a person instead of a costumed character (like Ming Ming). The line was SUPER long. Lucky for the adults, Joey didn't care to meet her! That was the whole reason for going to the mall after all.
Today the kids are trying to be on their best behavior. The reward.... going to a rummage sale! It is amazing how excited they get to go to a junk sale.

Overnight

Drew spent the night at Mimi and Papa's house last night. He wanted to stay and sleep in the "nest" with Joey. But when it came right down to it, he had a rough night. Or should we say Mimi had a rough night. Drew woke up at 3am and 6am wanting Mommy. But when Mommy went to pick him up at 9:30am he said, "Hi mommy!" and continued playing. She didn't even get a hug! Drew needs to spend more time away from Mommy so these overnight are easier.

Drew has been doing really well with potty training. He only wears a diaper overnight now.

Drew had a MAJOR melt down Saturday. Mommy and Drew went to a rummage sale at the high school which was where Daddy was also playing softball. Daddy finished before Mommy and Drew, so Mommy decided to take Drew home for a nap and go back to watch softball later in the day. Drew was not happy about that idea. The whole way home he was saying he wanted to go to the park (at the softball fields). The last mile or so he was kicking the seat saying, "Turn around, I want to go to the park!!" When the car pulled into the garage it was clear to him that he was not going to the park and he lost it. He was kicking and screaming. Mommy had a tough time getting him out of the car and into the house. When Mommy took Drew's shoes off and set him down he raced back out and into the car. Mommy carried in everything else before attempting Drew again. When Mommy went to get Drew he was naked from the waist down because he had peed his pants in the car. This whole time Drew was still screaming and crying. Mommy carried him in again and held him on the steps. He was hitting and pinching too. He tore up the Kleenex Mommy was trying to wipe his nose with. Finally Mommy carried him to his room and sat with him in the rocking chair. After about 5 minutes in the chair he finally settled down. He told Mommy that he loved her and he was sorry. He then took a 3 1/2 hour nap! The poor kid was over tired from not having a nap for 2 days and staying up too late Friday night. Mommy blames herself. We had NEVER had a tantrum that bad before.

Easter

Drew and his loot from the Easter bunny. So excited!
Finding baskets at Mimi and Papa's house.
Look what we found!

Drew had a great Easter! He got too much stuff. He found a basket at Mimi and Papa's house on Saturday. Sunday morning he woke up to find an over flowing basket and hidden eggs at our house. We went to Great Grandma Haekenkamp's farm for lunch. Last stop Grandma Luna and Grandpa Ron's house. There he got more loot and hidden eggs. Then he went outside and found more eggs (filled with candy) with his friend Micky. It almost seemed like Christmas!

Shrine Circus

Today we went to the Shrine circus. When Drew was asked if he wanted to ride on a camel or an elephant he said he wanted to ride on a lion. Lucky for him that was not an option. He settled on his second choice a camel. The kids as the show was starting.
No circus would be complete without cotton candy. It was gone within 8 minutes of opening the bag!

Drew with a green straw and the circus in the background.

Drew had a great time at the circus. It was a little too long for him. He wanted to go home before it was over. He was really tired and not feeling great. For about the 5th time in as many months, Drew is sick again. He sound like he is coughing up a lung. He is gagging every time he gets coughing. It is so hard to see him going through this yet again. When will the weather cooperate so we can open the windows and get some fresh air?!?

Egg Hunt

Yesterday we went to an Egg Hunt. Drew had fun. Each kid was told to get 10 eggs. He wouldn't stop! There were plenty of eggs for everyone.
Collecting his loot. We saw the Easter bunny at Cub. Drew didn't want to get too close. After the picture was taken, Drew and the bunny had a "hop off". Drew was showing the bunny his moves. It was funny.

We went to the toy store to get the blocks Drew earned. He didn't want them. Instead he got "Trev" who is a "Cars" toy and doubles as a carrying case for his mini's. He has played with it nonstop since he brought it home. He has gone a full week wearing big boy underwear with no accidents. He loves earning stickers to put on his calendar at the end of the day.

Auntie Daycare

Drew has been doing awesome in his potty training. We made a chart and told him if he used the potty for 3 days we would go to Toys R Us and get some building blocks. He has even been going poo in the potty! He has been putting stickers on his chart before bed. It is going so well that we decided to use a calendar and keep going with the stickers. Tomorrow is the day we said we would go to the store. Believe it or not, Drew is actually inside the cupboard filled with toys behind Joey Anna. She was so proud of her work. Auntie was surprised Drew stayed in there.
Two little monkeys.

Happy 69th Birthday Grandpa Bob!
