Today was Halloween dress up at preschool. The kids did a little parade and then sang some songs. Joey's class even got to perform on the stage. The kids seemed to enjoy it.
Last night we went to church for their "Trunk-or-Treating" event. The kids played games and then went outside to collect candy from cars in the parking lot. Thankfully the rain held off for the event!

Sunday

Drew or "Big Papa", as he called himself since he was wearing Papa's shirt as a paint shirt, painting pumpkins.

Mandi and Dylan?

Drew the UPS man.
Today Drew went to Sunday school with Papa and Mimi. After church we went to Mimi and Papa's for lunch and pumpkin painting. In the afternoon we headed to the Medina for a kids Halloween dance. For the first 20 minutes or so the kids danced and had fun. After that Drew and Dylan were tired. Drew was mad because Daddy wouldn't take him downstairs to Robert's to play pull tabs. Robert's is where the softball guys hang out after their games. When Drew goes with them they usually play pull tabs. That was the first thing he wanted to do when we pulled into the parking lot.
Drew had two days with no naps and three days of lots of Halloween fun. Mommy is looking forward to tomorrow when we can relax and get back on schedule! Drew is looking forward to tomorrow because Mommy said we could go to the party store and pick a theme for Drew's birthday!!

Today we started out at Cub food's for a little Halloween stuff for the kids. We moved across the street to Lund's for their fall festival. They had face painting, balloon art, samples galore and cookie decorating.
Then we moved on the the Hopkins American Legion. They had games, food and a costume contest. Drew had a VERY busy day with no nap. By the end of the day he was exhausted. He was in bed by 7:45, which is on the early side for him.
Drew in his UPS costume won first prize.

Fears

When Drew woke up this morning, he got into bed with Mommy. The furnace kicked in and he said he wanted it off because it sounded like the "Vacuum Pig". He says there is a vacuum pig that lives under his bed. It scares him, but he has never seen it so he doesn't know what color it is. He says they come in all colors.

The original vacuum pig is the little vacuum guy on Teletubbies. He actually looks like an elephant, but he grunts and snorts so Drew has always called it a pig. We have not watched Teletubbies for a year or more. For awhile he was calling our cat Sabrina the vacuum pig. At night when we are in the living room he doesn't like to go down the hall to the bathroom because "the vacuum pig might get him". A child's mind is an amazing thing.

Drew was not listening very well and Mommy gave him a warning that she said was the last warning. Drew asked if it was a Tornado Warning. Last week on the first Wednesday of the month when they do the Tornado sirens he was all concerned with what it meant. Guess he is still thinking about it.

Mommy and Daddy were just talking about the news were they thought the little boy was flying in the hot air balloon. When Grandma Luna called, Drew repeated the whole story to her. Mommy and Daddy have to be sooooo careful with what they talk about when their little tape recorder is listening!

What?!?

When falling asleep for nap Drew started asking if he could go color on a marshmellow again. Mommy had no clue what he was talking about. Then he said, "You know, like when I saw Santa and rode a horse." The more he talked the more Mommy remembered he was talking about the Otten Bros Holiday Open House last December. Does the kid forget anything?

What the kid said

This morning Drew got into Mommy's bed and started to fall back to sleep. We heard a siren outside in the distance. Drew sat up and said, "What kind of emergency equipment do you think that is?" Mommy said police car. Drew said, "Or maybe an ambulance or a firetruck." Who cares! It was too early to be awake!

At nap time Mommy reads Drew a book and then we lay down and try to sleep. When Drew is out or almost out, Mommy leaves his room. Most times Drew asks where Mommy is going. Mommy says, "To do Mommy things." Yesterday Drew was having a hard time settling down. After awhile he said, "Mommy, I need to get up and do some Drew things."

Since Drew didn't take a nap yesterday we decided to go to Cub. BIG MISTAKE. Drew was told if he was a good boy the whole time we would get a scratch off lotto ticket. He wasn't being a good listener so we decided he didn't earn the lotto ticket. He started screaming going out the door and carried on for 20 minutes because he didn't get his ticket. Mommy had to hold him by the wrist with one hand while loading $150 worth of groceries into the car with the other. He wanted to run back into the store to get a ticket. Then it was a 10 minute battle to get him into his car seat. On the ride home he settled down and apologized to Mommy. Surprisingly Mommy stayed really calm during the ordeal. Not that it was fun by any means. We are not missing nap time today!!!

Fire Station Open House

Drew and his snow friend October 12th!
This past weekend we went to the Hopkins and Plymouth fire station open houses. In Hopkins we were able to ride around town in a fire truck and go up in the bucket of a ladder truck (brrr). We also collected "loot" (Drew's favorite new word) at both. We spent the day with all our cousins and had a great time.
Sunday we got together with the Thonander's and the Wood's for breakfast. It had been way too long since we had seen them! We stopped by to visit Grandpa and Grandma (and borrow some glue). We spent the rest of the day at Papa and Mimi's house. We took Joey with us since no one else was going. Papa gave Joey and Drew each a screwdriver and let them chip ice off Shaker #9. They also thought it was funny to spray Papa with the hose from a beer keg(left over from a party they hosted for a neighbor). Drew and Joey had an awesome day together with no fighting.
Today we had snow. Drew and Mommy made a snow friend after nap time. Drew then got his diggers and dump trucks out to play in the snow. It was kind of nice to play in the snow with out it being so cold. Drew just got out of the tub and is heading to bed. Tomorrow is a school day (the only one this week because of MEA) and it is picture day!

I can't keep up

When Drew goes down for a nap, Mommy lays with him for a little bit. Today Drew had a hard time settling down. For the first little while Drew was whining about wanting a specific remote control garbage truck for his birthday. He wants to know why he can't have it now or why his birthday can't be TODAY. Then he wanted to know if chocolate milk came from girl cows and the other from boys. Mommy replied and then Drew said, "Totally geared is totally broke" (pulling truck). Mom said,"mmhmm" and then Drew said,"Only service dogs and cats can go to McDonald's". Mommy said,"mmhmm" and then Drew said he was teaching Dylan the names of tractors like"Ford, International, John Deere and Case." Then he rolled over and was quiet.

When he woke up, he came out of his room talking about the garbage truck again! silly kiddo!

Nap time is over

Drew came out of his room after nap today and the first thing he said was," I have to find my green garbage truck before we eat cake." Not knowing we were having cake today, Mommy asked why we were having cake. With his hands flipped up he said," Cuz it's the garbage trucks birthday!" Duh Mommy. I do wonder what goes through his head while he is sleeping. He comes up with some crazy things when he first wakes up!
