Life's a Beach

Today Drew and I went to the beach. This is only the second time in his life that Drew has been to a MN beach. The thing that surprised me the most was that Drew was trying to touch the fish that were swimming near him. I have been afraid of fish ever since they bit me at Camp Tanadoona Campfire camp. I do not want my child to be afraid of things, but this one surprised me. Good thing because there were plenty of little sunnies swimming around the kids. We met Lucas there and were pleasantly surprised when MaKenna (another friend from school) showed up too. It was a coincidence today, but we planned a day at the beach for next week with MaKenna.
After a quick bath and some lunch, I told Drew it was rest time. He said, "Is it sleep time or play time?" I told him he could choose. He picked sleep time! He has been sleeping for close to 2 hours already. I guess our activities this week are taking a toll. Yesterday we spent a lot of time at the park with Joey, Dylan and Lucas. At 5pm Drew went with Auntie Jen to get Zackory from daycare and hang out at their house. We met at Target to get Drew. Drew did have a meltdown at bedtime. Maybe that is why he wanted to sleep this afternoon.

Last week was the last day of preschool for this year. The kids put on a super cute performance in their room. After school we went to Parker's Lake park for lunch and playtime with his classmates. Bring on the summer fun!
Dylan turned 3! Last Saturday we attended his train themed birthday. Poor kid ended the party with a 102+ fever.

wiped out!
Today Drew and Mommy took another trip to St Paul. This time our destination was the Children's Museum. Drew asks to go there "for lunch" a couple times a week. We had a great time even though it was pretty busy there. Drew loves to "go to work". When we talk about going to the museum, he starts talking about going to work. He likes to work in the factory. Moving foam blocks on conveyor belts from upstairs and downstairs, loading the truck and writing on the chalk board "schedule". He is such a character!
What should we do tomorrow.....

Como Zoo

Drew claims this is his first picnic on a blanket outside. We always do "pizza picnics" in the living room.

Drew's favorite animal of the day

Playing zoo keeper
On a HOT and HUMID Monday, Mommy and Drew went to Como Zoo. It was a nice morning with the breeze. We spent a few hours looking at animals, riding some rides, having a picnic, playing at the park and looking at plants and flowers. It was a relaxing day with no time schedule. The rest of the day we hung out outside in Drew's plastic pool. Feels like it is time to get the big pool open and running!

10 Years

This month Scott and I celebrated our 10Th Wedding Anniversary. Where has the time gone? Scott spent our Anniversary working and then playing softball. He did go home after softball instead of hanging out with the team. The next night we went out while Drew spent the night with Grandma Luna and Grandpa Ron. While it is nice to have some time away from Drew once in awhile, he was a bear the next day! He just didn't get enough sleep when there is so much fun to be had at Grandma and Grandpa's!
On Mother's Day Drew went with Auntie Mandi and her family to Great Grandma's farm. Scott and I went to our second Twins game in the new stadium. This time was much better! We got to try the foods we wanted (First game they were out of the food we wanted to try by the 3rd inning). We entered through a different gate that was not so congested (first game we ran into a terrible traffic jam inside the gate). And we were warm (first game was a night game and chilly). On the slight down side, our seats are in the sun on day games. We ended up with some sun burn. Next time we will be prepared!
Last week ended up being chilly and wet to start. Thursday we(me, Jenie, Mandi and "the neighbor girls", Noelle and Nina) opened a garage sale. Thursday was very wet and very cold. But it was our busiest day of the sale! Friday was perfect for a sale. Saturday was a great day, but hardly any shoppers. If we decide to have a sale again, I think we would only do Thursday and Friday. Jenie, Mandi and I made close to $400. It was very time consuming and tiring, but fun at the same time. It was great to catch up with Nina and Noelle too.
Saturday Drew and Daddy went with Mimi and Papa to the first truck pull of the season. Drew was a great kid all day. I heard that from at least 3 different sources. He was also the only kid that went so he got all the attention. Plus he is definitely a boy and loves trucks, tractors and everything in between! He was in heaven! After the sale on Saturday, I went to "Girl's night" with some old and new elementary/high school friends. It was a great time!
Sunday we went to the grocery store and then Drew went home with Mimi for the day. Scott and I cleaned up the garage sale, mowed the lawn and did some other things around the house. Then we had our first game of the season of our co-ed softball. We didn't win, but it was fun to play. I played on this team last year, but Scott did not. It is always more fun for me when he plays too. However, he now plays 3 nights a week plus some weekend tournaments. Just waiting to see when he'll retire. Probably never.
Drew had his "1/2 birthday" on Sunday. He kept saying it wasn't his 1/2 birthday, but he is quick to tell us he is now 4 1/2(ugh!). We made cupcakes to celebrate. This week is Drew's last week of school (actually only has Thursday left) and Dylan will be turning 3. Where DID the time go????

Auntie Daycare

The kids and I just put some banana bread in the oven. Hopefully it will turn out OK since we had to improvise on some ingredients. The kids love helping to bake. Seems like every other day they are bringing a new stuffed toy to me and telling me it's their Birthday so we can bake something! They love to taste each ingredient, the batter and the final product. Surprisingly Drew tried the banana bread batter even though he saw bananas go in it. For the longest time he wouldn't eat brownies because he saw eggs go in the batter and he says he doesn't like eggs.

Drew was shaking a grape juice barrel that Auntie Mandi sent over. He accidentally dropped it on the floor. Mommy said, "Please be careful. I will not be happy if that spills." Joey's response was, "It's OK Auntie, there is another one in our bag." Umm, not exactly the part I was worried about! Kids are characters!

Yesterday I was pretending to eat Drew. He said, "Mommy, don't eat old Children. They taste like rotten apples." Not sure how he knows this is true.

May

We did the Walk for Animals this past Saturday. We raised $1010. It was a little windy, but otherwise a great day. We did the 5 miles in about an hour and a half. It was not timed, but we could have gone faster without all the potty breaks!
Tonight was the "Spring Fling" at Drew's school. Daddy had to miss a softball game to go with us. The good news is that he (Scott) will live! Drew had fun. They do a good job for the kids. There is only 3 weeks left of school. It is bittersweet. It will be nice to not run back and forth picking up and dropping off kids. But it is a nice break for all of us too. And next time they start school, Joey will be in Kindergarten! ugh! Where does the time go.
Drew had a MAJOR meltdown at bedtime last night. He didn't get a nap yesterday, but did fine with it until bedtime. Neither Mommy nor Daddy could calm him down. Then Drew woke up at 5:45am today. The good news is that he took a 2 hour nap this afternoon. Bedtime tonight went much better.
Drew got his haircut last week. He looks too old. I want my baby back!
Thursday Scott and I have been married TEN years! enough said.
